The Friends we Meet and Have

In this world we meet so many different people!  They are nice, whitey, happy go lucky, down to earth, friendly, sad, emotionally driven, a little bitter, sporadic, and those great people that could make dooms day seem like a happy event.
What draws us to the people that we instantaneously love or learn to love?  All I have to say is that there are those that you meet that you know you like and you know you can match up with.  As we grow closer to these friends we find out that some we want to be acquaintances, others temporary friends, long term friends, those you want to keep associating with in the eternities, and then there is the one that you want to be married to for the eternities.
Well that is as far as my thoughts go on that right now, so talk to you later!

Christmas Season

Merry Christmas Everyone!
The year is almost to a close and we have come to the season that helps us refocus our lives, helps us guide our thoughts on Christ and His life.  I hope everyone is warm and finding joy in being with family and friends.  May we us this time of refocusing our lives on Christ and becoming better individuals so we are better prepared to be with Christ when He returns to earth to reign as Lord of lords and King of kings!

Dave & Andy's

Let's face it, every city loves to have the local icecream spot and sometimes they are nationaly acclaimed.  This is the case with Dave & Andy's in Pittsburg, PA.  They where on the top privatly owned icecream's of USA Today and man do they deserve to be on that list!
If you don't look for it you wont find it but all the locals know about it.  I was with a group of friends at a Young Single Adult Conference in Pittsburg when the person two of us where staying with said we had to go and have their great icecream. So the next night while a dance was going on we went.  We walk down the street and the sign was jutting out and we walk in with great expectations.  The icecream is what makes the place great!  The feeling is rustic but they know that there good and they know people will come.  A guy from a local restraunt was in front of us picking up there order to make their customers happy. 
I felt adventures and saw they had Black Walnut.  My Dad loves that so I thought I would see if it was any good.  Oh ya!  It wasn't the taiste of icecream with a mix of walnut flavor in it, it was pure black walnut flavor, with black walnuts in it!  I loved everybite of it and it's truly for the diehard black walnut lovers because half way through I could have stopped (but when it's that good you just can't stop!).
All my friends that where there loved theres and it was well worth the almost 2 1/2 mile walk to get there.

Oh Ya!

Have you ever woke up and said, "I want Ice cream!"  You know you are a true fanatic when you do that and your day always goes great to with that thought (and if you can carry it out for breakfast it makes it even better!!!)
The person that invented Ice cream deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, really!  Think about it, how many wars have stoped before they started?  We don't know the answer because the war never happened, to bad Mussolini didn't like ice cream.  And how can we forget those disputes we have that are settled over ice cream.
  Remember how it really isn't a party unless there is ice cream involved.  I love in college how when your roommate or you break up with someone, have a bad date, have a bad day, or just want it, you go for ice cream and the day becomes a paradise.  That is the strong effect of it!
So next time someone says, "Let's go for Ice cream", you respond, "Oh Ya!"  Because no matter the occasion, Ice cream always works!  Bon appetit!

Kiwi Loco!

Today is the day that we will start adding Frozen Yogurt to our collection of deliciousness!

Kiwi Loco opened it's Rexburg Idaho location Spring 2011 and it has been a great hit in the community!  A wonderful thing about this is that their flavors are always changing and give you a variety of surprises and great treats that you never thought would become frozen yogurt. They have two sizes for their cups and it costs 39 cents per oz..  They have a plethora of different toppings that will go with any combination.  The more we go the more details will be posted :)

Today I got York Peppermint Patty, Outrageous Orange, and Georgia Peach :)  These my friends are great flavors that create a zing and a burst of fun in your mouth.  When I tasted the York Peppermint Patty it was love first taste.  But the warning I would give to you is not to get it with the other two flavors I got, because the other flavors will make this heavenly taste taste like bitter sweet chocolate.  Get it when you can tho!  The Outrageous Orange was a surprise that could not have been expected.  It was an instantaneous distress-er.  The Georgia Peach was great, it tasted sweet and took me home to the Peach Orchards, not a thing that is easy to do and few things have accomplished.

The service was great and very friendly. 

Today's rating: 9.9!  The .1 down is because I should have eaten the York Peppermint Patty first to get the full flavor.  This is definitely a favorite :)

One has to experience the great joy of Antietam Dairy.  It is found in a quite town between I-81 and I-15 called Waynesboro, Pennsylvania.  It is locally owned and the ice cream is made daily and uses real ingredients not just flavor liquids. 

What is the age of maturity?

To what extent do we make society?  I put forth that we make society what we want and if we want something changed then we do it.  It is becoming more and more of a norm to accept that those who are 18, 19, up to the early 20's are irresponsible, immature, and cannot hold steady relationships.  It is upon that reasoning that many look out and quickly judge those in that category.  Why should they act differently?  We have no expectations from them, save that they will mature in a couple years on their own due time, from being older, and having "experience".  What terrible social dogma.  They do not rise to the occasions because we do not expect them to.
We do not expect them to act like adults, contribute to society, stop with teenage games, and become a mature member of society.  We want their youth years and experiences to be extended.  But at this we have a conundrum.  For we see that many are then living in their parents homes for years beyond what they should, they are working at mediocre jobs, they are not seeking the higher education that they should and that they are not achieving major life goals as people did years ago.  Are we cradling the younger society into a group that will not be able to survive or grown on its own.  Now I would like to note that I am not speaking of all, but a certain group from this age group.
Are we giving them ample opportunity to hold jobs while they are in High School so that they can learn to take responsibility, know how to work, have interpersonal communication skills, learn what it means to begin being an adult, and to have the experiences that help one become mature?

Spring!

There is something in the first couple of days of Spring that is magical!  The grass turns from death white to flourishing green, the birds sing with zeal, the squirrels are out and about playing, people are walking and talking with smiles and without coats!  It seems as tho new breath has been spread across the earth and life has emerged with great zeal and joy.
Today I walked outside and found the weather to be amazing, just like what was described above.  I decided to go for a run.  It was a little painful for the slightly cold air to hit the lungs but it was rejuvenating and the more I ran the warmer it got.  It was great running around the Burg and seeing other runners, children in the parks, and families off and about.  Looking around seeing the trees start to get the small buds that will soon be in full blossom.  It is great to see the creations of God in full work and reaching for their full beauty!  It is a glorious day that God has given us to enjoy!
Spring is here and the life of the outside world is Back!

Today is the Day

Today is the day in which we throw off the old and put on the new.  The day in which we become new creatures having Christ help in doing so.  What is to be done with life?  It is to be loved, cherished, enjoyed; we are to learn, grow, have experiences, take chances, never give in, and continually become the best person we can.
How do we obtain the most out of this life?  By having a firm foundation.  How are we to obtain this firm foundation?  By building upon the Rock of Christ!  Christ is immovable, steadfast, sure, and always safe.  Any who have tried to build, even a part, of their foundation out of something that is not based in Christ have found that it becomes unsure and that it quakes at the very sight of anything new.  With Christ their is peace and safety.  Christ is not limiting but is the Great Emancipator of our Souls!  There we can expound our knowledge, abilities, and joy!

The act of selfless giving is one of the most beautiful attributes on earth.  It is a sign of true charity and a sign of caring.  I have recently had an experience with this.  I started to feel sick and was trying to bake a cake for a friends birthday.  So I had gone over to some friends house to make it and during it I felt nauseous so I came back home.  I wrote to one of the friends there saying I was feeling nauseous and that I would be back over in a little to finish it up.  Without hesitation she responded that when I get back over she would make some herbal tea for me and give me a couple vitamins.  How kind, sweet, and charitable of her to do that.  When I did go back over she was good to her word and I am thankful for that generosity.  I had to come back home quickly because the feelings where intensifying.  Two roommates helped me out greatly and then a bit later I needed rushed to the hospital because my body hadn't been absorbing any liquid for two days and I was dehydrated and had severe flu symptoms.   But the roommate who took me just stopped what ever he was doing and took me.  Two other roommates where out buying me some Ginger Ale to help the stomach and I told them I was going to the Hospital.  By the end 6 friends where there with me at the Hospital, one of them who's Birthday it was.  What great love and support.  Truly nothing can beat such great people!

We stand at the brink of a new day.  With the sun rising about the Mountains and the sky's changing to the auburn and dark blue hue.  We see the light filling the earth and showing us what was hid to our eyes.  The slumbering that we were once in has fallen from our eyes like the shackles of prison.  We live and we breath!  We move and we work.  We prepare for the new day in which all the opportunities are furnished before us! This is the day of choice, this is the day of awakening, this is the day to live our lives!
Throw down the old chains which bound you, you have been made free through the agency that you agreed to God to use.  You are made free through the Atonement of Christ of past follies never to tread those paths again.  The lessons learned, the trip anew, the choices are wiser and free-er!  Ah, this is the day of joy in which we live in!  God be thanked!

Take it by the Horns

So what are we waiting for?  We make plans in our heads, we have ideals that we want to obtain, we have ideas of friends that we want to know, and (if your not married) people you want to ask out!  Why are we waiting?!  Don't!  Just go do it, if you do not try then you will always wonder.  Let the wondering stop and embrace life with the vigor of a tiger and enjoy every moment like it is your last!
Today was an example of that for me.  I woke up made the plans for the day and confirmed that things were going on today.  I got home from classes and was talking to my roommate who was going to Utah for the weekend and giving some people a ride. This made the thought dawn on me that I wanted to go!  I had been asking people that lived down there how often they go to see about rides and my roommate is going!  Within 2 hours we where on the Road!  A recent friend was going through her music selection and just playing all the different types.  It opened up my mind once again to music selection!  Some of the songs found cords in my soul while some didn't and that's what it is all about.  Learning, growing, and never settling down so far down in our ways, except on moral principles and the true doctrine of Christ, that we don't want to change or it becomes hard to adjust.  Live and be free!
